Session Title: Mental Models— Building Products that Inspire Trust

Earning trust is one of the most important challenges for every new piece of technology. By it's nature, new tech is complicated and hard to understand. How can customers trust your tech and let it into their lives if they don't know how it works? Mental models are the tools that help bridge the gap between technologists and the rest of the world, so they're a critical tool for making new tech mainstream. This talk will explain how mental models work, why they matter, and how you can use them to help other people understand you.

Clef

Clef is a replacement for usernames and passwords that recognizes your phone instead of anything you need to remember or type. It makes logging in safer and easier, and the New York Times described logging in with Clef as "magical". Clef already powers logins on more than 100,000 sites and is quickly spreading as more sites consider the costs of passwords to their security and usability.
