Session Title: How Do We Keep It Creative

Taking a step beyond traditional non-profits, social enterprises are capitalizing on the growing hyperlocal digital realm to create sustainable business models geared to tackle issues goals that have typically been relegated to non-profit organizations and local government. Oakland, despite having one of the highest artist-per-capita populations in the country, does not have a culture and arts commision to support and sustain this important population that is vital the City’s identity. Oakland Music Festival (OMF)’s co-founder and CEO, Alfonso Dominguez, will discuss how OMF is working with the community and local stakeholders to create not only a platform, but a thriving, sustainable industry capable of supporting arts and culture in Oakland, and how you can be a part of the movement. Light refreshments will be served, along with a Q&A discussion to follow the presentation.
